Intusoft’s Lowpan4u Enters Smart Home/Office Electronic Marketplace
San Pedro, California (PRWEB) April 08, 2016 -- At the heart of the offering, an Intranet web server functions as a universal web application for direct control and programming of end devices. Devices, manufactured in the USA by Intusoft, are connected using a low-power personal area network hub (Lowpan4uHub).
LowPan4u enters today’s enveloping “Internet of Things,” a multi-billion dollar market growing at epic proportions. The LowPan4u product suite is original design and manufacture, employing Intranet communications based on a 915Megahertz ISM band “MiWi” protocol (a simplified Zigbee-IEEE protocol). Using a home computer or mobile device, guest users can view and operate devices in a limited fashion, while administrative users can program a variety of functions based on time and motion detection. Especially interesting are programming times relative to sunrise and sunset.
Lowpan4u.com devices and kits are available from Amazon.com (search Intusoft) and lowpan4u.com/products.php. Kits are on sale, starting at $69.95 for the entry-level kit that includes one “StandardPlug” and a lowpan4u hub. These kits are equipped with a Raspberry® Pi B+ micro-computer that runs an Apache2 Intranet web server, with MySQL and PHP. Other offerings include a smart switch plug-in receptacle, smart dimmer nightlight, and motion detection activation of devices. An even lower cost hub requires a user to provide a Windows computer to host the web server. The software is installed from lowpan4u.com.
Lowpan4uHubs connect to the “cloud” at lowpan4u.com, with a built-in secure user account. The account can download updates, and backup or restore the user’s home configuration and programs. More than 100 end devices can be controlled by one hub.
LowPan4u kits are complete—no special apps or compliance with smart electrical devices on the market are required. The full Lighting Kit contains three end-use devices that plug into a wall socket, plus a lowpan network controller: sale price is $210.95. The three end devices are:
1. StandardPlug, smart dimmer, 2-prong AC socket
2. AngelPlug, adds a passive infrared (PIR) smart motion detector
3. LisaLight, add a built-in 40 lumen night-light with smart dimmer
The AC receptacles can control anything that plugs into the wall, requiring less than 2.5 amps. Dimming is provided in eight levels.
“The Watering Machine,™” a 12-zone programmable sprinkler controller, will be available Q2, 2016.
Lawrence Meares, founder and chief engineer, commented, “We are actively designing additional end devices. Included are units that measure food temperature inside an oven or BBQ, motion-intrusion sensor, weather station, gas detector, and home environmental controllers. Moreover, these devices are operated and programmed using a web browser’s powerful graphical interface, eliminating the frustration of programming using one or two button controllers.”
Tim Ghazaleh, Director of Marketing, commented, “LowPan4u has key advantages over competitive products, such as longer wireless range, high reliability, operative safeguards, low cost, minuscule standby power at roughly 10 cents per year, and are USA made. Our directive for high product ratings stems from product reliability and straightforward programmability.” The Intranet site features Free Open Source Software (FOSS) licensed under the General Public License (GPL). This enables customized development of the LowPan4u system by an advanced user.
