We will be hosting events throughout the year to accomplish, if not, surpass the standard we have set.
TIGARD, OR (PRWEB) April 13, 2016
On March 26th, Oneself Inc., a local marketing and consulting firm, hosted an 80's-themed Trampoline Dodgeball Tournament at Sky High Sports Portland. They raised over $1,200 as a part of their continuous effort to fundraise and create awareness for Operation Smile. The amount raised is enough to cover the cost for five surgeries; currently, cleft palate reconstruction surgery costs $240 per child.
"Through the dedication and compassion of our team across the nation, we have an aggressive goal to raise $7,000 this year and help sponsor a mission to heal the smiles of children in need and help fund missions globally," said Caitlin Carey, President of Oneself Inc.
Operation Smile is an international medical charity who has provided more than 220,000 free surgical procedures for children and young adults born with cleft lips, cleft palates, and other facial deformities. To build long-term sufficiency in resource-poor environments, they train doctors and local medical professionals in foreign countries so they're empowered to treat their local communities. They also donate medical equipment and supplies and provide year-round medical treatments through worldwide centers.
President Carey participated as a volunteer for a medical mission in Guatemala in 2014 and currently acts as an ambassador for the organization. While Oneself is persistent in their mission to give voices for those who cannot speak for themselves, they are quickly building a reputation in the community as local philanthropists as well. In October 2015, the Oneself team raised a record breaking $12,135 on behalf of AC Portland, a local children's charity.
"Over 70 participants came to support our cause during this event, and we want to thank all of them for joining us in our ongoing mission", said Krystina Duvall, Oneself host of the Sky High Smiles event. "We're excited so many people are eager to help us hit our goals and we will be hosting events throughout the year to accomplish, if not surpass, the standard we have set."
