Gilbane Building Company Honored by Design-Build Institute of America New England Region with Gold Award
Providence, RI (PRWEB) April 12, 2016 -- Gilbane Building Company, a global leader in construction management, was recently awarded a Gold Award for its outstanding design-build collaboration with Toshiko Mori Architects on Brown University’s Hunter Laboratory program. The project transformed an existing historic four-story, 42,000 sf facility at the heart of the campus into state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms and faculty offices, including a 6,000 sf addition of new Botanical Greenhouses to the roof of the Lab, as well as a new 4,000 sf Penthouse Central Utility Plant.
“The Design-Build team of Gilbane and Toshiko Mori Architects collaborated through each phase of the 15 month project to ensure mutual understanding of Brown University’s design intent, implementation plan and business terms,” said John Sinnott, Vice President Business Unit Leader for Rhode Island. “To be honored with this award is further representation of the design-build team’s commitment to seamless delivery and approach throughout the program.” As noted by DBIA New England judges, they were impressed with Brown’s pursuance of unique project execution strategies, and the team’s collaborative process.
