Finalists Named in Search for Maricopa Community College District Chancellor
TEMPE, Ariz. (PRWEB) April 13, 2016 -- Two finalists have been selected from a diverse, competitive pool of highly qualified candidates vying for the position vacated in February 2016 when Dr. Rufus Glasper, the previous Chancellor, retired.
Mr. Ray Di Pasquale, Education Consultant, former President of the Community College of Rhode Island
Mr. Di Pasquale currently serves as a consultant to the Rhode Island Board of Education. Prior to this role, Mr. Di Pasquale served as president of the Community College of Rhode Island from 2006-2016, and as Commissioner of Higher Education for the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education from 2011-2013. During his time at CCRI, the college enjoyed near-record enrollments, reaching 18,000 students each semester, and had its largest graduating class ever in May 2012.
Dr. Maria Harper-Marinick , Interim Chancellor, Maricopa Community Colleges
Dr. Harper-Marinick is currently serving as Interim Chancellor for the Maricopa Community College District. Prior to this appointment, she led the District as Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost for six years, working with the Chancellor to develop and implement the District’s strategic plan and initiatives to enhance access and increase student success. Dr. Harper-Marinick also provided oversight for all areas within academic and student affairs: institutional effectiveness and research; university relations and transfer; grants development; international education; high school to college pathways programs; workforce and small business development.
The public is invited to attend two community forums to meet the finalists:
• Thursday, April 21, 1 p.m.-4:20 p.m. at Phoenix College Bulpitt Auditorium, 1202 W. Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ
• Monday, April 25, 4 p.m.-7:10 p.m. at Mesa Community College, Navajo Room, 1833 W. Southern Ave., Mesa, AZ
Students are invited to attend a special forum with the finalists:
• Friday, April 22, 2-5 p.m., at Rio Salado College Conference Center, 2323 W. 14th Street, Tempe, AZ

After reviewing feedback from all groups and interviewing the candidates, the Governing Board will make a final decision and announce the next Chancellor for Maricopa Community Colleges.
