Construction Safety is featured on "Behind The Scenes" for Public Television with James Earl Jones
(PRWEB) April 14, 2016 -- If viewers have ever wondered how construction workers stay safe, the upcoming episode of “Behind The Scenes” centered on construction safety is a must-see. The episode will be hosted by one of the world's most celebrated actors, James Earl Jones (Star Wars, The Sandlot.)
It is no secret that construction is a dangerous line of work. Yet there are surprisingly few injuries and deaths on construction sites compared to decades ago. On-site hazards include working at great heights, the risk of materials falling from above, electrocution, use of body-damaging power tools, motor vehicle crashes, noise / dust exposure and beyond. Join Jones for this special episode in which the program will explore the many different ways in which construction workers protect themselves against these hazards throughout their workday. The piece will also delve into some construction injury statistics. As an example, the number of fatal injuries suffered by those in the fields of construction and extraction increased 5 percent in 2014. While this line of work employs a mere 6 percent of workers in the United States, it accounts for an incredible 17 percent of workplace fatalities.
This episode of “Behind The Scenes” will do more than harp on the inherent dangers of construction work. It will also explain the many injury prevention methods in terms of protective equipment, new safety technologies and beyond. The episode will also shed light on the safety standards established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Individual counties have even enacted their own regulations for construction fall protection and general injury prevention.
The program isn't produced or related to PBS or APT in any capacity, but is independently produced and distributed across the US to Public Television.
