La Quintinye Vermouth Royal Rouge Takes Top Honor at 2016 Ultimate Spirits Challenge – Wins Prestigious Competition’s Chairman’s Trophy
Hawthorne, NY (PRWEB) April 14, 2016 -- Maison Villevert announces today that La Quintinye Vermouth Royal Rouge has been awarded the Chairman’s Trophy at the 7th annual Ultimate Spirits Challenge (USC), the world’s most influential spirits tasting competition. The competition was hosted by the Ultimate Beverage Challenge (UBC) at UBC’s Evaluation Center in Hawthorne, New York. Of the 670+ entries this year, La Quintinye Vermouth Royal Rouge was among the elite group of 40 to win the Chairman’s Trophy, and the only sweet vermouth to earn this prestigious honor.
Awarded a score of 97 points, La Quintinye Vermouth Royal Rouge became the highest scored French vermouth in the history of the competition, solidifying its place among the top vermouths in the world. In addition to the Rouge’s top finish, La Quintinye Vermouth Royal Extra-Dry was awarded 94 points and was named a ‘Finalist’.
“As a new French vermouth, I am thrilled with the enthusiastic reception we have received from the industry thus far,” said Jean Sébastien Robicquet, creator and master distiller of La Quintinye Vermouth Royal. “Having only launched La Quintinye in France two years ago, and with just one year in the U.S. market, we are truly honored that such a respected panel has recognized our creativity and has awarded La Quintinye 97 points, an absolutely incredible score at this competition, especially for a vermouth!”
Led by Chairman Judge F. Paul Pacult, the panel is comprised of 21 key influencers in the spirits industry, including award winning buyers, educators, and mixologists Jeff Bell, Jacques Bezuidenhout, Tad Carducci, Gregg Glasser, Don Lee, and Andy Seymour. Judges concentrated on the aroma, color, taste, and texture, of each spirit, both neat and in a category-appropriate cocktail. To ensure that each spirit received equal attention from the judges, a course of four tasting sessions were held for every entry. The Chairman’s Trophy and Finalists were determined by the judging chairman based on the number of entrants and overall categorical scoring. The winners of these titles are identified as the best representations of their category in the world.
In addition to numerous favorable recognitions at spirits competitions, the Vermouth Royal product line continues to command the attention of the nation’s top bartenders and mixologists, appearing behind the bar at Vox Table in Austin, TX, the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles, and in New York City’s Seamstress and The Dead Rabbit, among many others.
