April 14, 2016 – Whether it’s to get a ride or order a meal, it’s not hard to find one of the millions of consumers who have used an on-demand service. These leading-edge companies are shaping the way business is done, but face the unique challenges of an evolving regulatory climate working to adapt to the break-neck speed of technology. Now, on-demand companies have a community that will advocate for on-demand business while collaborating with like-minded companies, addressing collective issues, and sharing industry research and data.
The recently launched On Demand Industry Association (ODIA) is a first-of-its-kind organization dedicated to advocating for and advancing the industry of on-demand businesses and services providers. ODIA will serve as a voice for on-demand businesses, while also educating consumers on how to safely select and utilize the services.
Established by a consortium of industry experts and professionals, ODIA is a business association first. The group saw a need for an association that would not only represent but advocate for the on-demand industry. Many on-demand companies are processing business transactions using mobile technology with little to no information on changing technology, consumer behavior or laws and regulations. ODIA was formed to represent these businesses, support their companies and legitimize the industry to all audiences.
As an all-new association, ODIA is laying the groundwork for a comprehensive resource for on-demand member companies. ODIA members have access to a slate of benefits, including educational and networking events – both in person and virtual – as well as an online community, focused media, advocacy and lobbying efforts, and weekly industry news and content.
ODIA is currently looking for founding members to help the association set its path and realize its potential.
In addition to contributing to ODIA’s strategic focus, founding members are invited to an exclusive event in Washington, DC later this year where they will work together to help shape the future of the rapidly expanding On Demand Economy.
