Corpus Christi Regional EDC Tops Southern Business & Development’s “Best in Texas” Rankings
(PRWEB) April 18, 2016 -- Corpus Christi has earned several top rankings in Southern Business & Development Magazine’s “Best of Texas” feature in their April issue, including one of the Best Locations for Exporting, and Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation (CCREDC) being named one of Texas’ “Best Large Local Economic Development Agencies.”
“The CCREDC is pleased to be recognized as a top economic agency within the State of Texas,” said Iain Vasey, President and CEO of CCREDC. “These rankings acknowledge our region’s partnership of various economic development stakeholders to make the Corpus Christi area a premier location for domestic and global companies to locate and expand their operations.”
Vassey added: “This is a recognition not just for the CCREDC, but for the organizations like the counties, cities, Port Corpus Christi, and private companies that support economic development in the area and who make the work of the CCREDC possible.”
New industrial investments for Corpus Christi MSA are expected to secure several billion this year alone and create more than 1,000 new jobs. Known as the Industrial Center of South Texas and one of the few deepwater ports in attainment status on the U.S. Gulf Coast, the Corpus Christi region is seeing investments continue due to the area’s key attributes including a 24,000-acre Foreign Trade Zone, the largest in the United States.
Another key attribute is the location of Port Corpus Christi, which recently exported the first crude oil shipment from the United States in 40 years. The region has seen over $35-$40 billion in announced new capital investment with over 1,200 direct and over 5,000 direct and indirect announced new jobs in the last five years.

“Without the knowledge and support of the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation, we would not be able to have the significant growth our region is experiencing,” added LaRue. “The port is very supportive of the good work the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation does for our region, and we want to congratulate them for such recognition.”
