Tom Harper has joined North American Title's newly opened Salt Lake City commercial office as its sales manager. “Tom brings an element to the table rarely found in sales professionals,” said Justin Scott, branch manager, senior commercial escrow officer, North American Title. “Not only is he licensed in both escrow and title, he has a history in government both from a political and legislative standpoint. He has a unique voice of reason and understanding because he has been involved in the process of writing laws and helping create policy affecting our industry today. Tom is a valued member of our team who one can rely upon to get the correct answer to any title-related question.”

Harper most recently handled agency relations for the Utah title insurance operation of a large, national financial services company.

“North American Title is poised to turn some heads in this market,” said Harper. “It’s gratifying to watch people respond so enthusiastically to our combination of national strength and local expertise. Over the next few years, I think you’ll see our team emerge as the go-to shop for high-end commercial work.”

Previously, Harper served for over nine years as manager of training, education and outreach for the Utah Department of Commerce, where he managed training and targeted communications for more than 200,000 professional licensees across the state and increased usage of various database and registry programs.

His prior positions included director of public affairs and government relations for the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development, as transition manager for the Utah gubernatorial transition team and campaign in 2003 and 2004, and as a political consultant for national, state and county-level campaigns.

Harper also worked for three seasons as the on-field announcer for the Salt Lake Stingers, the previous name for the Salt Lake Bees, the city’s minor league baseball team. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University and holds a master’s in public administration from the University of Utah.
