Chi Executives Slated to Present Financial Impact for Laboratory Executives at 21st Annual Executive War College

Myers will serve as faculty at the 21st Executive War College Conference on Laboratory & Pathology Management April 25th - 26th at the Sheraton Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana.
In a fifty-minute session scheduled for Tuesday, April 26th at 8:00 a.m., Dr. Murphy and Mr. Myers will demonstrate the impact of potential pricing models on reimbursement for hospital laboratories as CMS applies pricing rules to specific tests as a result of the Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA). The presentation will include a comprehensive look at strategies that may be implemented proactively, including engagement of the hospital and health system c-suite to protect laboratory outreach revenues.
“PAMA captured the full attention of most pathologists and clinical laboratory managers nationwide late in 2015, particularly the section of the law that requires CMS to collect market data from labs about test prices by payer,” stated Robert L. Dr. Kathy Murphy is a Senior Growth Advisor for Accumen and the author of “The Profit Machine in the Hospital Basement” which is set to release at this year’s Executive War College and has more than 25 years of progressively responsible experience in diagnostic services management and consulting. A noted speaker and author on the topics of operations improvement, outreach trends, and laboratory accreditation, she also directs the annual performance and publication of Chi’s widely regarded and referenced Comprehensive National Laboratory Outreach Survey. Dr. Murphy obtained her PhD in microbiology and immunology from the University of North Dakota and has completed executive education coursework at Dartmouth and Harvard Business School.
Mr. Myers is a Certified Public Accountant and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business Law from the University of Tennessee. He has more than 20 years of experience in financial analysis and executive-level experience in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining Chi, Mr. Myers served as the CFO for the Diagnostic Services division at Duke University Health System and at Dynacare Tennessee, an independent clinical laboratory joint venture between Dynacare and the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
