Enjoy Exotic Moroccan Food and View Original Art at the Same Time
Stamford, CT (PRWEB) April 21, 2016 -- Art Exhibition space is usually designed for browsing, not eating. However, in the heart of downtown Stamford, The Fez, http://www.fezeg.com, 227 Summer Street, is making a name for itself with its Artist in Residence program. The Fez, a Moroccan-inspired restaurant, underwent renovations in summer 2015 and returned with updated menu offerings, refreshed cocktail infusions, a fabulous lineup of live entertainment and eureka—a new and strong interest in local art! Viewers can relax and, at their leisure, ponder, examine and consider the art while enjoying chef’s specialties.
Nancy Laist, Director of Community Outreach, who heads up the Artist in Residence program says, “The Fez supports live musical talent nightly. We wanted to branch out and further embrace the art community by offering space for artists of the canvas and camera, as well.” The Fez partnered with the Stamford Art Association, 39 Franklin Street, and will be offering space to their artist community on a rotating basis. The Fez is also a member of the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County.
In February of this year, The Fez hosted its very first Artist in Residence exhibition opening, with wine and appetizers, for Kathy Muir. Kathy is a singer–songwriter who has performed live at The Fez in the past. We were thrilled to offer The Fez’s first exhibition to Kathy, now known to us as both musician and artist. The exhibit by Kathy, entitled “Places in our Minds,” is a thought-provoking study of every day images. A series of black and white photos printed onto square metal sheets, these images suggest a post-industrial gaze at the mundane. All works of art are for sale. The Fez will connect those interested in purchasing directly to the artist. “Places in Our Minds” runs through May 14th.
The next Artist in Residence features photography by Susan Christiano, a Stamford local and beloved science teacher at Hart Magnet Elementary School. Please join us for the exhibition opening on May 23rd from 5:00PM–6:00PM. Treat yourself to some delicious food and wonderful local art at The Fez.
