USA Medical Card™ Provides a List of Stroke Symptoms
Washington D.C. (PRWEB) April 28, 2016 -- USA Medical Card reminds us that May is National Stroke Awareness Month. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a stroke is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States; someone has one every 40 seconds. Annually, almost 800,000 strokes occur in the country, with almost a quarter of them in individuals under 65 years old. A stroke is when blood flow to the brain is blocked or when a blood vessel ruptures in or around the brain.
Because strokes affect people of all ages and so much of the population, it’s important to be familiar with the warning signs. The American Stroke Association advises calling 911 immediately if someone is exhibiting the following F.A.S.T. symptoms:
Face drooping or numbness. Does the person have an uneven smile?
Arm weakness or numbness. Does one arm fall downward if both arms are raised?
Speech difficulty or slurring. Can the person correctly repeat a simple sentence?
Time for 911! Even if the symptoms subside, the person should go to the hospital immediately.
USA Medical Card Co-Founder and President Jordan Sessler says, “A stroke can affect a person at any age, and result in serious, life-changing complications that can include paralysis or weakness on one side of the body. It’s important to know that up to 50% of all strokes are preventable. You can help control risk factors such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol by taking medications as prescribed by your doctor. Don’t let the cost be the reason you don’t get your prescription. Use our free pharmacy discount card to help reduce the price of the vital medicines that you need to stay healthy.”
The pre-activated USA Medical Card is accepted at more than 62,000 pharmacies across the country — local, regional and national chains such as CVS, Costco, Target, Rite Aid, Walmart and Walgreens. Eligible Rx medications include Diovan, Bystolic, Lipitor, Crestor and other stroke-related drugs as well as thousands of popular medications.
