Boston Chief Medical Officer Summit Announces Keynotes

Morning day one keynote address starts with Dr Bob Beall of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on Profound Industry Impact: Leadership Talk on Expediting Drug Development & Commercialization for the Benefit of the Patients. Dr Beall pioneered the Foundation’s successful venture philanthropy model, which has been a game changer in CF research and drug development. In this session Dr Beall discusses the collaboration between the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Vertex, which produced a successful drug approval and drove a $3.3 billion deal.
Next, Dr Akshay Vaishnaw will address Challenges and Opportunities in Pursuing a New Therapeutic Modality from its Inception. As the CMO at the leading RNAi therapeutics company Dr Vaishnaw is perfectly positioned to offer valuable insights into what to expect from undertaking a new therapeutic modality.
Following Dr Vaishnaw, Dr Jeff Drazen, the New England Journal of Medicine uses tuberculosis as the example of improving evidence-based understanding and shares his point of view on academic-industry relationships in his keynote address “The Play of Chance: The Rise of Evidence.”
During the afternoon, Donald Jones, Scripps Translational Science Institute will present the technology keynote on Digital solutions Impacting the Economic Efficacy of Clinical Trials. In this session internationally recognized digital health expert, Donald Jones, will share his insights on the digital clinical trial landscape and the urgent need to pair digitization with drug products for patients.
On day two of the conference, Ken Getz, Tufts CSDD will present his annual keynote address on Isolating Operating Barriers to Achieving Capital and Asset Efficient Drug Development.
