Carolyn Marie Beers Brown, a middle school teacher and loving mother, has completed her new book “My Other House”: a sweet and considerate clarification of the residential circumstance children of divorced parents may be forced to live.
Carolyn’s own son has two separate, loving homes. She decided to write this book so that, “... other children can also see that it can be just as fun at both places. While experiences may be very different, making memories is always an option.”
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Carolyn Marie Beers Brown’s knowingly written and vividly illustrated story explains and details the living situation of nine-year-old Matthew.
Matthew’s parents are divorced, but it happened long ago and Matthew only remembers having two houses, and two families.
One day Matthew has a friend over and it seems like everything they want to play with is at Matthew’s “other house.” His friend questions what Matthew does at his mom’s house since most of his toys are at his dad’s house. Matthew answers proudly, “My mom and me, we make memories.” Then proceeds to show his friend a colorful and exciting afternoon doing just that.
After several hours of making memories, Matthew’s friend walks away with a newfound understanding and a respect for a more and more common predicament in today’s society.
Readers who wish to experience this inspired work can purchase “My Other House” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
