Hanley Wood's ARCHITECT Launches The Studio Prize Awards
WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRWEB) April 25, 2016 -- Hanley Wood, the premier information, media, event, and strategic marketing services company serving the residential, commercial design and construction industries is pleased to announce the launch of an annual, education-focused awards program-The Studio Prize.
"Studio courses are vital incubators of architectural ideas and talent," said Ned Cramer, editorial director of ARCHITECT. "The Studio Prize is designed to foster exchange between the academy and the profession, students and practitioners."
The Studio Prize Awards will recognize some of the most thoughtful, innovative, and ethical studio courses at accredited architecture schools from across the nation. The competition is designed to celebrate excellence in studio curricula and in the student work that results, with the goal of disseminating best practices and honoring innovative teachers and students.
Multiple entries from each university are being encouraged, and all submissions must be in the context of a professional Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture program from the current academic year. A distinguished jury will examine each studio's project brief, research, and representative student work. The winners will be featured this fall in ARCHITECT, in print, online, and via social media.
This year, the program's exclusive sponsor, Sloan, has generously made available $20,000 in prize money, which the jury will award at its discretion to students whose work appears in the submissions for winning studio courses. There will be an additional, $5,000 purse granted as part of the Studio Prize's Sloan Award, identified at the jury's discretion, which recognizes studios that focus on sustainability or water conservation.
The entry deadline is June 17, 2016. For more details and eligibility requirements for the 1st Annual Studio Prize Awards, visit http://www.studioprize.com.
