Health Choice Network Board Names Alejandro (Alex) Romillo President and CEO
Miami, Florida (PRWEB) April 27, 2016 -- Health Choice Network (HCN) today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Alejandro (Alex) Romillo as President and Chief Executive Officer. Romillo previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer. He succeeds long-time HCN President and CEO Kevin Kearns.
Since joining HCN in 1999, Romillo has become a recognized expert in health information technology, and has provided leadership and achievement in areas of meaningful use, health information exchange, behavioral health electronic records and health data management.
As CEO, Romillo will support day-to-day operations of HCN’s network of Federally Qualified Community Health Centers (FQCHCs), which provide comprehensive primary and preventive health care for patients in underserved communities across the nation.
“Alex’s experience, expertise and past performance lends our organization and its membership a level of comfort that the organization will continue to thrive and grow,” said HCN Board Chair Seferino Montano. “More importantly, Alex’s vision and ‘outside the box’ thinking will take Health Choice Network into a new era of technology that will put us at the cutting edge and ensure that our patients are receiving the highest quality of primary care.”
Under Romillo’s leadership, HCN has implemented cost effective technology solutions to reach more than 8,600 active health center users across 416 remote access locations in 19 states. In 2014, these health centers served more than 800,000 unique patient visits and synchronized well over 145 TB of health information technology.
“The board feels that during this time of transformational change in the health care delivery system, there is no better person to lead Health Choice Network than Alex Romillo,” said Rosalyn Frazier, Board Chair of HCN of Florida. “In the wake of health care reform, community health care centers are where the rubber hits the road, serving as a vital link in reaching the millions of uninsured Americans the Affordable Care Act is intended to cover. Alex is a proven leader with a clear vision for helping HCN fulfill that role.”
Romillo is a graduate of the University Of Miami School Of Business and began his career at the University’s Miller School of Medicine, where he assisted in the implementation of the first departmentalized management information systems designed to provide point-of-care access to online medical research. Romillo then served on the executive team for Community Health of South Dade, Inc., one of the largest community health centers in the country.
