The Disneyland Resort will be hosting a pre-Mother’s Day high tea to benefit The Little Bag Ladies, a charity that helps homeless women and girls. The event will be held on April 30 at 1:00 at the Sleeping Beauty Pavilion.
Guests will walk into the Pavilion on a red carpet. They will enjoy tea on the finest china, upscale desserts, fresh scones, sandwiches and other treats prepared by Disney’s world-renowned chefs. Guests can also get photos with Disney characters, participate in a silent auction and enjoy live entertainment. They can also enter a raffle to win two Disneyland Park Hopper tickets. The event is fancy dress, with the dress code strictly enforced. The guest with the best hat will be given an award.
Best of all, proceeds from the event will go to benefit The Little Bag Ladies. This organization helps homeless women and girls within the community while raising awareness of their needs. They provide unused, unopened personal hygiene supplies discreetly and inexpensively to homeless women and girls, utilizing recycled handbags and purses filled with supplies acquired from donations.
“This is a great event, for a great cause, at a great location,” said Ahmed Nashaat, a local entrepreneur who attends many fundraisers for various charities. “I could not be happier to be involved in this and would suggest everyone gets involved.”
According to the Institute for the Study of Homelessness and Poverty at the Weingart Center, an estimated 254,000 men, women and children experience homelessness in Los Angeles County during some part of the year and approximately 82,000 people are homeless on any given night. The average age of homeless women in the greater Los Angeles area and surrounding communities is 40 years old, and the average woman does not reach menopause until age 55 or beyond.
