Author Cyrus Copeland to Share His Personal Quest with Guests at Jumpstart’s San Francisco Gala
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 28, 2016 -- Jumpstart, a national early education organization, will host its annual Scribbles to Novels gala tonight at one of San Francisco’s premier event venues, the Terra Gallery. Cyrus Copeland, respected speaker, editor, and author of the memoir "Off the Radar: A Father's Secret, a Mother's Heroism, and a Son's Quest," will be among the personalities entertaining more than 300 expected guests at the Terra Gallery, a contemporary art gallery and event space in San Francisco’s trendy SoMa neighborhood.
Jumpstart President and CEO, Naila Bolus, will serve as the honorary emcee. Guests will be treated to a cocktail hour where they will have the opportunity to mingle with authors, enjoy a gourmet three-course dinner followed by a transformational story from Jumpstart volunteer, Desiree Monai Luna, music from violinist Pourya Khademi, and an exclusive, on-stage interview with featured author Cyrus Copeland and Emmy Award-winning journalist, Jan Yanehiro.
In addition to Cyrus Copeland, this year’s Scribbles to Novels author lineup includes children’s book illustrator and author of "Max and Marla," Alexandra Boiger; sustainability consultant and author of "The Heart of Sustainability: Restoring Ecological Balance from the Inside Out," Andrés Edwards; three-time Pushcart Prize nominee and author of "All Stories are Love Stories," Elizabeth Percer; and Marissa Moss, author and illustrator of over fifty books, including the popular "Amelia’s Notebook" series.
“Jumpstart recruits and trains more than 200 volunteers to work with over 800 preschool children in Northern California, helping them develop the skills needed to succeed in school. This growth is driven by the nurturing relationships formed between the children and volunteers who implement Jumpstart’s program,” said Atalaya Sergi, Regional Vice President of Jumpstart. “We are grateful to Cyrus Copeland, Jan Yanehiro, and our featured authors and supporters for dedicating their time and efforts towards Jumpstart’s vision—ensuring that every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed.”
Since its inception, Scribbles to Novels San Francisco has raised more than $2.5 million.
