Stantec Wins Two Platinum Awards and One Gold Award at The Miami Beach Chamber’s 4th Annual City National Bank Better Beach Awards
Miami, FL (PRWEB) April 28, 2016 -- The architecture and design firm Stantec in Miami was awarded two Platinum Awards and one Gold Award at the recent City National Bank’s 4th Annual Better Beach Awards, presented by the Real Estate Council of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce.
Stantec’s Susan LaFleur received a Platinum Award for “Innovative Designer Over 10,000 SQ Feet” for her design of Aloft South Beach. A Platinum designation was also awarded for the firm’s work on Aloft South Beach in the “Historic Preservation with Adaptive Re-Use” category.
The 235-room Aloft South Beach by developer JMH Development was converted from the 1954 era Motel Ankara into a 130,000 sf playground that exemplified the forward-thinking Aloft urban aesthetic, while capturing the carefree vibe of Miami Beach. The historic portion of the hotel was renovated and a new, eight-story tower was added.
Stantec was also awarded a Gold Award for The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Miami Beach project in the “Innovative Architecture-Residential Property” category. Opening 2017, the development will feature 111 residential units ranging in sizes from 2,000 to 15,000 sf including townhouses, lofts and duplexes plus 15 custom-designed, stand-alone villa residences. This luxury residential development is an exemplar of an acutely tuned architectural adaptive reuse, resurrecting a substantially obsolete medical campus into a new typology of living.
A total of nine awards were presented, recognizing the best in architecture, design, marketing, restoration and preservation. Hundreds of professionals gathered at The Ritz-Carlton South Beach Hotel for the luncheon hosted by Local 10 sports anchor, Will Manso.
