Like our commitment to safety, our commitment to meaningful outreach and partnerships in the community is an important expression of our core purpose to make a difference in the lives of our people, customers and community.
New York, New York (PRWEB) April 27, 2016
Turner Construction Company is pleased to announce they are gearing up for their annual week of company-wide safety events and community service activities.
Beginning on Monday May 2 with the company’s 12th annual Safety Stand-Down, and culminating in worldwide, single-day community service rally to mark the company’s 114th Founders’ Day on May 6, the week will offer many opportunities to engage with, learn from, recognize, and support our trade workers, colleagues, partners, clients, and members of our communities.
“This year, Turner will complete in excess of $10 billion of construction on 1,500 projects around the world,” said Cindy DePrater, vice president and corporate director or Environmental Health and Safety. “The stand-downs provide us with an opportunity to pause and promote safe building practices, demonstrate how deeply we care about the safety of every person on our projects, and thank and recognize them for what they accomplish each and every day.”
Building L.I.F.E. (Living Injury Free Every Day) is the focus of Turner’s safety program. This year’s Stand-Down theme of Full Engagement emphasizes our commitment to collectively and pro-actively creating the right environment on our projects, beginning with safety. On May 2, Stand-Down presentations will focus on the continuous improvement of safety processes and practices, inclusion of trade workers in safety planning and discussions about safety, and recognition of workers who participate proactively and fully in their own safety and the safety of their coworkers.
Bookending the week, Turner’s annual Founders’ Day of Service will bring together Turner employees and neighborhood agencies—from local soup kitchens and home build organizations to public parks and schools—to demonstrate our support to the communities where we live, work and play.
“Dedication to making a difference in the lives of our people, customers and community, has always been at the heart of Turner’s business philosophy,” said Karen Sweeney, senior vice president of Community and Citizenship. “Like our commitment to safety, our commitment to meaningful outreach and partnerships in the community is an important expression of that core purpose. The diverse variety of events we have planned reflects the passion of our people and their broad commitment to the diverse needs of our communities. Our people are planning in excess of 10,000 hours of service in one day. During our Safety Stand-Down and Founders’ Day of Service, more than ever, we ‘think globally and act locally’ in fulfilling our core purpose.”
