Blue Bear School of Music Names Renee Richardson Development Director
San Francisco (PRWEB) May 02, 2016 -- Executive Director Steve Savage is pleased to announce that longtime KFOG DJ Renee Richardson will be taking the post of Development Director at the venerable San Francisco institution - Blue Bear School of Music - starting this summer. After 17 years as a top radio personality in the Bay Area Ms. Richardson has decided to apply her skills in the art of persuasion to attracting donors and musicians to support music education in San Francisco.
Ms. Richardson has been a Trustee at Blue Bear for the past three years, fostering her enthusiasm for the school and its mission of “changing lives through playing music.” She is especially pleased to be working in support of the school’s growing education and outreach programs that bring the power and passion of music to under-served communities in SF.
Blue Bear School of Music has provided music education for more than 35,000 adults, kids, and teens since 1971. Each year, more than 2,200 students enroll in Blue Bear programs. At schools and community centers across the city, Blue Bear’s expanding Community Outreach Programs provide music education for youth in grades 2–12, helping to fill the gaps where public funding for arts programs has been reduced or eliminated. The school also runs a Little Bears program (4 mo – 5 yrs) at St. Joseph Family Shelter and the Prenatal Homeless Shelter.
Our guiding principle is that learning to play music inspires and strengthens individuals while creating community.
