The Renaissance Pleasure Faire Welcomes Steampunk Weekend: April 30 and May 1
Irwindale, CA (PRWEB) April 29, 2016 -- The Renaissance Pleasure Faire invites all of our guests to dress up in their finest time-traveling attire this weekend. No matter which century you portray, we’re looking forward to celebrating a leap back (or forward) in time with you! It is, after all, a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey… stuff!
A mere ten minutes east of Pasadena lies a land seemingly thousands of miles away. It's a land of imagination, as if built by house elves hundreds of years ago. It’s here where jousting knights, saucy wenches, regal ladies, and the court of a beautiful and gracious queen mix with today’s hipsters, history buffs, fantasy lovers and families. The Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire – the world’s oldest – presents its 54th season beginning April 9th and continuing each weekend through May 22nd at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area in Irwindale, CA.
Special Events during Steampunk Weekend include:
• Steampunk Costume Contest – Sign up at the Guest Services booth at the top of the food court. All contestants will gather and toast in the food court area from 3:30 to 4 pm. While the contestants meet and greet, their costumes will be rated by anonymous judges. We’ll close our gathering with a group photo. The Grand Prize Winners of the 2016 Renaissance Pleasure Faire’s Steampunk Costume Contest will receive tickets to return this season, along with a free 3 month US Discovery subscription to Ancestry.com. Winners will be announced at 5pm, and do not need to be present to win.

Sunday’s Contest: Epic Accessories
• Pub Crawl - Laugh, sing and gallivant through the Faire in a guided tour of our finest pubs! The Pub Crawl visits 6 pubs, and crawlers receive one drink at each location - anything on tap! Including cider! There are two crawls daily: 11:30 am & 1:30 pm. The cost is $50 per person to join the Pub Crawl, in addition to a regular admission ticket. Each crawl is limited to 25 participants.
• Beltaine Celebration at the Maypole (Sunday, May 1) - Bard to the Guild of St. Helena will officiate in an ancient Beltaine Celebration, featuring the blessing of Peace to the four corners. Peace, Love, Renaissance.
• The Gentlemen Adventurers and The Bankeside Schoole of Defense is proud to announce that Captain David Gynn will be playing for his Free Scholar prize the Saturday, April 30th.
Use the Irwindale Stop on the Metro Gold Line! Plan a responsible way home! Take the Metro into the new Irwindale Station and use Lyft to get to the Faire. Simply download the Lyft app, enter code RenFaire, and first time users will receive a $20 discount on your ride to and/or from the Renaissance Pleasure Faire, which will more than cover the cost of taking Lyft to the Faire from the station. And you will be delivered to the VIP gate for easy passage into the Faire!
TICKETS
Tickets for The Renaissance Pleasure Faire are $28.95 for adults and $15 for children aged 5-12. Children 4 and under are always free. Adult season passes are $150 and a child’s season pass is $60. Tickets can be purchased at the box office, at participating Walgreens stores, or online at RENFAIR.COM. The seven-week Faire is open every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am until 7 pm; April 9th – May 22nd at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, 15501 Arrow Highway, Irwindale, CA. A Vehicle Entry fee of $10 is charged by Los Angeles County.
