The Argent Firm, a leading provider of unclaimed property advocacy and compliance services, helps a needy family fulfill their deceased father’s life-long dream to send his 5 children to college. The dream was realized after more than a year of painstaking effort to locate the missing family and assist in the recovery of their California unclaimed property.

In 2009, Agustin Garcia-Camacho, a 41 year-old dual resident of San Diego, CA. and Tijuana, Mexico, suffered a fatal accident. Destitute and unemployed, his disabled wife and five young children wandered from place to place in a desperate attempt to find some means of support. Unknown to the family, they were the beneficiaries of a life insurance policy Agustin had taken out.

“We had discovered the existence of the policy,” said Andrew Delio, president and chairman of The Argent Firm. “But finding the family was a real mission impossible. They had wandered around so much that their whereabouts remained a mystery. Every lead we followed led to the same place -- nowhere.”

With expenses mounting, it became clear that the investigation would cost more than it would earn. Andrew had to make a decision – quit the search and cut the firm’s losses or continue the costly process. He chose the latter.

“Compassion definitely drove that decision,” reflected Andrew. “Through our search, I had gotten to know that family in a very real sense. I was determined to help them.”

Finally, Andrew and his team discovered the mother and five children settled in Tijuana, Mexico. Upon learning about the ‘secret’ insurance policy, the astonished Ms. Garcia-Camacho realized she at last could fulfill her husband’s biggest dream – sending their children to college.

“This case had a happy ending,” said Andrew. “But many don’t. Often, insurance companies simply don’t perform reasonable due-diligence in locating heirs and beneficiaries. It takes a company like The Argent Firm to pick up the pieces.”
