Three-dimensional virtual worlds will now become more of a reality, thanks to a partnership between fiber-optic pioneer Wilcon and full-scale virtual reality leader Legend VR. The companies today announced a partnership in which Wilcon will provide private data center space and fiber-optic network connectivity to support Legend VR’s growing network demand.

Legend VR, the new full-scale virtual reality division of Legend 3D, builds tools designed to help studios, filmmakers, agencies, and creative content producers realize high-performance interactive virtual reality content. Its recent virtual reality projects include “Take Flight,” from The New York Times’ Great Performers series; and “The Big One”, from Hulu VR and Lionsgate, for which Legend completed CG/VFX work, stereo conversion, on-set capture of talent, color correction, and final 360-degree rendering, among other services.

With hubs in both Los Angeles and Toronto, Legend VR’s requirements for secure, high-speed data storage and transport have reached substantial levels in recent months.

Legend plans to increase its footprint with Wilcon in the next 30 days, expanding its share of Wilcon’s data center capacity at their One Wilshire Building headquarters by nearly 45 percent. By locating at the strategic One Wilshire location, Legend will be able to take advantage of all the interconnection and networking options offered by Wilcon from this key, global communications hub.
