Portfolio-Wide Philanthropic Initiative Will Continue In 2016 With The ‘Fight Against Cancer’

Olshan Properties, one of the country’s leading private owners, developers and operators of commercial real estate proudly announced that its service-based charitable program, Olshan Outreach, successfully raised awareness and funds for its 2015 Heart Health initiative. Team members portfolio-wide will continue Olshan Properties’ annual philanthropic tradition in 2016 with the ‘Fight Against Cancer’.

Olshan Outreach was formally launched in 2014 with the goal of uniting its employees around the worthy cause of their choice that directly impacts the local communities in which they live and work. Throughout 2015’s Heart Health initiative, Olshan Properties’ employees dedicated a full day to aiding not-for-profit organizations and promoting various heart health initiatives throughout the portfolio in cities including: Atlanta, GA. (Sheraton Suites Galleria), Columbus, OH. [Courtyard by Marriot at Easton, Hilton Columbus at Easton and Residence Inn by Marriott at Easton),) Dayton, OH. (The Greene Town Center), Kansas City, MO. (Zona Rosa Town Center), Marco Island, FL. (Marco Island Hilton Beach Resort and Spa), Milwaukee, WI. (Bayshore Town Center) and Olshan’s corporate office locations in New York City, Columbus, Ohio, and Indianapolis, Indiana. In 2016, the newly acquired Hilton Orrington in Evanston, IL. will also join the effort.

Olshan Outreach’s Fight Against Cancer will kick off with ‘Letters of Inspiration,’ a program designed to help meaningfully connect with cancer patients through inspirational letters and artwork delivered to hospitals and treatment centers in the communities where Olshan Properties operates. Olshan Properties invites employees, customers, vendors, business associates, friends and family to join the effort. In May, Olshan Properties will welcome attendees at the 2016 ICSC RECon in Las Vegas to join in the effort by stopping by Olshan Properties’ booth to write their letters.

In 2015, Olshan Outreach lent its support to Heart Health as well as other initiatives through the following:

Atlanta, GA.

The Sheraton Suites Galleria participated in the Atlanta Heart Walk at Centennial Olympic Park on September 26th, raising awareness and supporting the American Heart Association.

Columbus & Dayton, OH.

Team members from Olshan Properties’ corporate office in Columbus participated in the Ohio Heart Walk. They were in charge of the water stations during the Heart Walk. Team members also assisted with setup, handing out water to participants and even treated participants’ dogs to treats as they walked by.

Employees of Olshan Properties’ three Ohio-based hotels, Hilton Columbus at Easton, Courtyard by Marriot at Easton and Residence Inn by Marriott at Easton also participated in the Ohio Heart Walk. The three hotel teams volunteered at multiple stations during the walk; some painted faces, passed out water, cheered on participants and offered congratulatory refreshments to the 30,000 walkers as they crossed the finish line.

The Greene Town Center hosted and participated in many initiatives this year; one of the most influential being the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event that brought out a crowd of 70 walkers and raised $1,400 that will be used to promote and educate others on domestic violence.

Indianapolis, IN.

Volunteers from the Indiana leasing office contributed by communicating Heart Healthy Initiatives. The Indiana team encouraged other corporate team members to walk a few miles with them on a path near the office, while discussing heart health and snacking on some heart-healthy apples along the way!

Kansas City, MO.

The Zona Rosa Town Center team hosted and provided the space for multiple 5k races supporting organizations like Platte Senior Services, Hillcrest, Feed Northland Kids and the Salvation Army. The team also raised awareness for heart health by participating in National Wear Red Day, hosting health fairs onsite and a heart health themed luncheon sponsored by the North Kansas City Hospital.

Marco Island, FL.

During the American Heart Association Heart Walk, the Marco Island Hilton Beach Resort and Spa donated 30 service hours volunteering and working multiple stations assisting with passing out maps, selecting prize winners and group photo registration for large teams. The local event organizer even named the Hilton volunteers ‘the best volunteers they had ever had’, for exhibiting great team work with even better attitudes.

Milwaukee, WI.

The Milwaukee Heart Walk & Fun Run was one of the many heart healthy initiatives at Bayshore Town Center this year! Bayshore was able to aid in the successful American Heart Association’s Heart Walk, where a total of $478,228 was raised.

New York, NY.

Corporate team members from the New York office hosted an American Red Cross Blood Drive, which was open to the entire office building, and a total of 17 participants were able to give blood, which can potentially save 51 lives.
