Church of Scientology of Sacramento Addresses Increased Abuse of Marijuana and Other Drugs
Sacramento, California (PRWEB) May 06, 2016 -- Volunteers and members from the Church of Scientology of Sacramento got together and attended multiple events in the region including Sacramento, Stockton and Davis during the month of April to bring awareness to the growing problems that drugs bring to the community, to provide an educational tool and to encourage a drug free life.
Arranging informational booths at the Stockton is Magnificent Event on April 2nd, the Cesar Chavez Youth and Leadership Conference in Davis on April 9th as well as hosting a Truth About Marijuana Open House at their local Church on April 12th and culminating with the Kids Day In the Park Event in Rancho Cordova on April 30th, members and volunteers handed out thousands of the educational booklet “The Truth About Drugs” and got hundreds to take the drug free pledge.
Taking to heart the following statement by L. Ron Hubbard: "If one is to address the agonizing effects of drugs – and there is too much at stake in terms of human life not to make an attempt to do so – it is necessary to gain a greater understanding of what drugs really do to the body and mind,” the Church and its members support the Foundation For A Drug Free World in their mission to give kids and parents accurate information regarding drugs and what they do so they gain that understanding and are informed of their effects.
Offering the largest non-governmental drug education program in the world, the Foundation furnishes educational booklets called “The Truth About Drugs” as well as the video documentary “Real People – Real Stories” and offers an educator's package with lesson plans to offer a comprehensive approach to the problem.
The president of the local Church of Scientology, Mike Klagenberg, added that, “the church is committed to improving our society, so if we address the underlying drug issue with proper education and advocacy we can set our sights on creating that safer society we all desire.”
