NCPDP Conference Recap: “Vision in Practice” Theme Comes to Life with Compelling Keynotes, Educational Sessions and Awards
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (PRWEB) May 04, 2016 -- NCPDP announced today highlights from its 2016 Annual Technology & Business Conference. The conference opened on Tuesday with Frank Luntz, sharing a dynamic, bi-partisan environmental scan of healthcare-related campaign issues. Today’s keynote panel discussion on NCPDP’s PDMP Solution provided a deep dive on NCPDP’s model solution to help stem the tide of the opioid epidemic and put real-time, actionable information in the hands of prescribers and dispensers. This afternoon’s keynote, former San Diego Chargers place-kicker, Rolf Benirschke, scored a field goal with attendees as he shared his inspiring personal health journey and work as a patient advocate.
Educational sessions echoed the “Vision in Practice” theme, showcasing consensus-based solutions that demonstrate NCPDP’s dedication and diligence in making its vision a reality. Other conference highlights include:
• Perry Lewis, Vice President of Industry Relations, CoverMyMeds was appointed Chair of the NCPDP Board of Trustees.
• John W. Hill, MBA, HCM, Vice President, Business Planning, Argus Health Systems, Inc. was appointed Vice Chair of the NCPDP Board of Trustees.
• NCPDP named Darren K. Townzen, R.Ph., MBA, Director of Billing, Reconciliation and Healthcare Data, Walmart as recipient of its prestigious TIME (The Individual Member Excellence) Award.
• Anne S. Johnston, R.Ph., Senior Director, Data Management, Express Scripts was presented the Benjamin D. Ward Distinguished Member Award.
• Terrence Neal, MBA, Director, Industry Analysis, CVS Health received the Rising Star Award.
In her ‘State of the State’ report, NCPDP President Lee Ann Stember provided a snapshot of key issues and accomplishments over the past year. Stember also presented NCPDP’s new vision, purpose and core values, the guiding principles for what the organization intends to be, and ideals that bind the organization. It set the stage for continued growth and innovation as NCPDP nears its 40th Anniversary in 2017.
