Aya Healthcare Gives Back for National Nurses Week 2016
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) May 05, 2016 -- In honor of National Nurses Week 2016, Aya Healthcare, the nation's premier travel nursing firm, is encouraging people all over the United States to thank a nurse who's made a difference in their life. From Friday, May 6 through Thursday, May 12, Aya Healthcare will donate $5 to the American Red Cross of San Diego/Imperial Counties (up to $10,000) every time someone tells them via social media how a nurse has made a difference in their lives, or posts a simple thank you using #ThankANurseSaveALife. The goal of the campaign is to illuminate the often unnoticed and unappreciated acts of kindness that nurses perform daily and to give back to an organization whose mission is to provide compassionate care to those in need.
"Hearing stories about how our nurses go above-and-beyond everyday to impact the lives of their patients is what keeps us motivated and inspired," said Amber Zeeb, Director of Operations. "National Nurses Week is the perfect time to say thanks."
Each day Aya Healthcare nurses make an impact all over the country. A few weeks ago that fact really hit home for one of Aya's internal employees, Russ Waehler, the Manager of Internal Recruiting.
"My wife was supposed to deliver our baby on April 18, but ended up having contractions a week early. Though we thought we'd be turned away for early labor, we were ushered into a hospital room. We met a very friendly nurse, Kim, who put us at ease with her friendly demeanor, sense of humor and professionalism. We spoke with her further and found out that, ironically, she was a travel nurse with Aya Healthcare and was very much enjoying her assignment at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns in San Diego.
When the time was right, Kim called the doctor to come deliver the baby but everything happened really fast and she ended up delivering the baby herself before the doctor arrived about five minutes later! We are both very grateful to Kim for making our time at Mary Birch a great experience and wish her well during her travels. Any hospital would be lucky to have her!"
