Oldfield Club Wins Real Estate Scorecard's 2016 Bliss Award for Best South Carolina Community of the Year

Development began in the late 1990’s. According to Real Estate Scorecard, the developer has done an excellent job over the years with the land stewardship by preserving natural habitats and huge live oak trees draped in Spanish Moss. Among Oldfield’s most prized accolades for stewardship was an honor bestowed this year by Audubon International, when it was named Audubon’s “Neighborhood for Nature” award winner. This is a distinction on top of the Green Neighborhood designation, and they are the only community to receive this award. The curb appeal of the neighborhood is unforgettable. Oldfield is a little less formal than some of the nearby Bluffton SC real estate developments and equestrian communities in the area.
One of their favorite amenities at Oldfield Club is the Outfitters Center. In Lowcountry fashion, the old wooden building with french windows and screened porch is actually a top-notch learning center and Orvis Fly Fishing School. Residents here have a VIP connection to the best fishing guides. The community boat dock is a great place to throw a cast net to catch bait for the day’s fishing expedition. At night, the gas lanterns add ambience to the entire community.
The Outfitters Center is also ‘the’ place to launch a kayak or paddleboard. The waterways in this area are among the most beautiful in South Carolina and if you’re lucky, you might even see dolphin strand feeding which only happens in the Lowcountry. The tides fluctuate as much as eight feet a day exposing massive oyster beds near the Low Country properties. At low tide, you can actually observe oysters spitting water into the air from a kayak. Real Estate Scorecard has seen it and it’s the funniest darn thing.
Next to the Outfitters Center is an elegant River Club popular for weddings and community events. The club is a two story historic building offering fine dining and has panoramic views of the Okatie River. The French-inspired architecture, beautiful fountain and dramatic exterior double-curved staircase are a statement in and of themselves.
Oldfield Club is also home to a Greg Norman Signature Golf Course. This was the first golf course Norman built in the Lowcountry. When asked for his thoughts about designing a course at the club, he responded “We dreamed of getting a site like this one.” After a day on the links, members have a 20,000 square foot plantation-style clubhouse to retreat to.
The Sports Club at Oldfield is one of a kind. The American Farmhouse architecture with rose covered trellises are a gorgeous facade to the wellness center. Here members enjoy a state-of-the-art fitness center, steam and sauna rooms and resort-style outdoor swimming pool. The Sports Club also has 6 Har-Tru clay tennis courts.
Oldfield Club is one of the few equestrian communities on the coast of South Carolina. The Oldfield Equestrian Center has a 12 stall red barn, riding ring, full course of jumps, round training pen, acres of grass, paddocks and access to miles of trail riding. Members have the option of leasing horses or accessing full boarding services. Catering to all age levels, member events include Valentine’s Ride, Pizza Rides, Christmas at the Barn, kid’s camps and more.
Living at Oldfield provides an incredible opportunity to connect with nature, spend more time outdoors and hang out with some of the friendliest people in the South. Membership to the club is required and monthly dues without golf are about $600 a month.
Homes range from the low $400k’s to over $2 million. There are still a good number of homesites under $100k if folks would prefer to build a home. Families have the option of riverfront, golf course or wooded lots or there are a number of Low Country properties for re-sale. Folks who like the feel of Palmetto Bluff, which was built by the same real estate developer, may be able to find homes for sale in Oldfield under the $500k’s.
