Summerville, SC to Reclaim Title for World's Largest Iced Tea
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (PRWEB) May 09, 2016 -- The “Birthplace of Sweet Tea” will attempt to reclaim the Guinness World Record title for the World’s Largest Iced Tea with another thirst-quenching, record-smashing event celebrating National Tea Day on June 10, 2016.
Summerville is once again partnering with local providers for all aspects of the event, ensuring that every sip of this world record tea is truly Southern: Tea will be brewed using SCE&G Natural Gas, local tea from the Charleston Tea Plantation, and Dixie Crystals- the sugar of the South, in a container made cool by STEALTH Concealment.
'Mason' holds the largest locally brewed sweet iced tea, and although the Town broke the world record in 2015, it was bested by another entity shortly thereafter.
An Adjudicator from the Guinness Book of World Records will again be present to oversee, verify and present the record for the 'World's Largest Iced Tea.’ Brewing the record-breaking tea will begin early in the day to ensure 2,400 gallons of ice-cold sweet tea is ready for everyone’s enjoyment by the party’s 5:00 p.m. kickoff. Everyone can look forward to live music by The Midnight City, dancing in the street, and plenty of local eats and treats. Attendees can purchase a souvenir Mason jar for $5 and enjoy as much tea as they like.
The rain-or-shine event will be held outside of Summerville Town Hall, located at 200 S. Main St.
Little Main St. and a portion of Richardson Ave. will be closed to traffic for the safety of event participants (same set-up as the Christmas Tree Lighting).
