Team Semper Fi Takes On the Terrain, Learn from the Pros at Inaugural Mountain Bike Camp
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 05, 2016 -- This weekend, from Friday, May 6 - Sunday, May 8, fifteen elite athletes from Team Semper Fi (TSF) will take on steep California terrain at the first Team Semper Fi Mountain Bike Camp, hosted in conjunction with WTB and Cannondale in Novato, CA. Joining them will be mountain bike legends Mark Weir and Jason Moeschler, who’ll share pro tips with the injured veterans as they rip down some of the best trails in the country. What’s more, WTB is making a special edition custom mountain bike saddle for the athletes to bring home with them. In addition to this, they will reproduce a limited edition of the custom WTB Volt saddles, offering them for sale direct to consumers from their website wtb.com this summer with proceeds benefitting the Semper Fi Fund.
Mark Weir is known as the “Godfather” of Enduro Mountain Biking in the United States and is a 9-time winner of the Downieville Downhill, one of the most iconic and demanding mountain bike races in the country. Jason Moeschler has won the Downieville Classic All-Mountain four times and is the current 2015 champion. Both are members of the Cannondale OverMountain Team, and also happen to be great friends.
Team Semper Fi and Team America’s Fund are part of the Semper Fi Fund’s athletics program; Semper Fi Fund provides urgently needed resources and lifetime support for wounded, critically ill and injured members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.
“Mountain biking offers the service members a balance of fun riding, beautiful scenery and land conservation awareness,” said Sam Tickle, Associate Director, Team Semper Fi. “These athletes will have the opportunity to learn advanced mountain bike skills from two of the best mountain bikers in the US, riding some of the most amazing trails in the country. Plus, they’ll have an opportunity to build confidence in the sport and connect with fellow service members, making friendships that can last a lifetime.”

About WTB
WTB was founded in Marin County, California in 1982, fueled by the need to create durable and reliable mountain bike-specific equipment. Back then mountain biking was a new and burgeoning sport, and mountain bikes weren’t much more than cobbled-together oddities. The original WTB crew was captivated by the experience of riding bikes on dirt trails, and they started creating more durable and functional components for their own bikes. Soon, local frame builders sought to outfit their bikes with WTB’s high-end components. WTB was able to turn our passion for bikes into a successful business.
Today WTB is a global enterprise; our innovative components are used for trail riding, transportation, recreation and elite racing across the globe. After 30 years things have changed a bit here at WTB–our little garage has morphed into a real office and the bikes we ride and the components we make have evolved to meet the needs of today’s riders, racers, and commuters. What hasn’t changed is our passion for cycling and our commitment to providing the cycling community with durable, reliable, high-performance components.
