MAD About Mattering Finale: Five Groups of Students Present Their #appsthatmatter to a Panel of EdTech Leaders
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) May 09, 2016 -- MAD About Mattering, a global project that challenges teams of students to develop apps that tackle social problems, today announced that at 3:30 pm EDT on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, students will present their apps to an esteemed panel of EdTech experts. One app selected by the judges will be formally submitted to App stores by Crescerance.

The final judges for the MAD about Mattering App Challenge are:

The apps that the students will present address a broad range of social problems, including sex trafficking, suicide, animal abuse, self-harm, and poverty. See below for a full list of the student apps and how to access them.
MAD About Mattering was launched in January 2016, through a collaboration among global collaborative pioneer teacher Vicki Davis (http://www.coolcatteacher.com), Choose2Matter founder Angela Maiers (http://www.choose2matter.org), and Co-founder of MAD-learn by Crescerance, Alefiya Bhatia (http://www.crescerance.com). The collaboration had six goals:
1. To use compassion driven innovation & collaborative teamwork to develop an app that matters to the world
2. To facilitate collaborative social entrepreneurial teams using leading computer science technology to create apps that tackle important problems to the students
3. To develop a network of supporters and investors to help fund & develop student apps and take them to market.
4. To document and demonstrate the next generation of global collaboration harnessing the power of collaborative technology, social media, and emerging partnerships of organizations wanting to help students pursue their passions and become excellent collaborators in the world today.
5. To create a duplicable model of quad-engineering where four classrooms work together to solve important global problems and release that model as an open education resource (OER )for teachers around the world to use and adapt.
6. To ensure that students are not just consumers of technology, but also creators of it
