SmarterU LMS Honors Women in STEM with 2016 Release Schedule Names
Winnipeg,Manitoba (PRWEB) May 10, 2016 -- SmarterU.com, a leading learning management system, is honoring the history of Women in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) by naming their 2016 Software updates after six illustrious but often unsung heroes in the sciences.
“There have always been women making significant contributions to science and technology,” says SmarterU Founder and President Dan Belhassen. “Culturally, we seem to be more familiar with women in social/environmental sciences, like Margaret Meade and Jane Goodall, or astronauts like Sally Ride and Roberta Bodnar. Other than the Nobel-prize-winning physicist Marie Curie – most people can’t identify women who contributed to mathematics, chemistry, physics or engineering. Six releases – six opportunities to shine a light on some note-worthy women to honor their contribution to the work we do every day.”
SmarterU traditionally updates the features and functionality of its Learning Management System six to eight times per year, with most updates being driven by requests or suggestions from clients. This commitment to user satisfaction is one of the reasons SmarterU clients say they have never worked with a more responsive vendor.
The six Updates are Lovelace (April 2), Noether (May 28), Hopper (July 30), Lamarr (Sept 24), Meitner (Nov 19), and Franklin (Dec 10). Each honoree is being given their own tribute page on the SmarterU.com website. “We want to tell their stories,” adds Susan Hurrell, VP of Business Development, “These women’s’ lives and contributions to their fields of study are an inspiration and are especially important as trail-blazers for the next generation of Women in STEM.”
The first two of these pages have been posted, those belonging to Ada Lovelace (the world’s first computer programmer) and Emmy Noether (mathematician and algebraic theorist), with a new page being added as each future release date nears.
