Morgan & Morgan Encourages Jackson to Help Make Children’s Wishes Come True
(PRWEB) May 06, 2016 -- Leading plaintiffs’ firm Morgan & Morgan, a sponsor of this year’s Make-A-Wish Foundation Evening of Wishes Gala, encourages the community to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening conditions at this Saturday’s event at the Jackson Country Club.
This year Mississippi Make-A-Wish aims to raise more than $250,000 in order to grant about 40 wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. Last year, the organization raised $200,000 for about 30 wishes. In recent years, children have had a variety of wishes fulfilled, including meeting President Barack Obama, trips to Disney World and trips to visit family in far-off regions the children might not normally get to visit because of financial concerns.
Morgan & Morgan attorney Christopher Espy, who is a member of the foundation’s board of directors, says he got involved with Make-A-Wish because of a personal connection to the organization. His cousin had leukemia as a kid and in the mid-1990s Make-A-Wish granted his cousin’s wish to go to Disney World.
“It was a good experience for him,” Espy said. “These wishes are therapeutic. They remove these kids from what they’re dealing with on a daily basis and give them the will to fight through.”
The Gala is the foundation’s signature event, with more than 350 people attending to celebrate the organization’s mission to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions in order to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
“Supporters like Morgan & Morgan help us impact the lives of Mississippi kids with life-threatening medical conditions by granting their most heartfelt wish and we are thankful for their generosity,” said president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Mississippi Brent Wilson.
The Gala begins at 4:30 p.m. There is a derby watch party during which people can bid on a variety of items in a silent auction. Afterward, there is a dinner during which there is a live auction for trip packages and other items.
Espy and Morgan & Morgan encourage people to join in the fun while helping to support a very worthy cause.
“We want to encourage our clients, vendors and fellow firms to pitch in and help fund a wish,” Espy said.
