Nine More Fork Union Military Academy Athletes Sign Commitments to College Programs at Spring Signing Day Ceremony
Fork Union, Virginia (PRWEB) May 06, 2016 -- At a Spring Signing Day Ceremony today attended by family, friends, and faculty members at Fork Union Military Academy, nine more cadets signed commitments to play for college football, basketball, and lacrosse programs. The nine included two football players, one basketball player, and three lacrosse players from the school's prep (high school) teams, and three postgraduate basketball players. This is the first time in recent history that the Academy has seen three lacrosse players advance to play in the college ranks, in a sign that the growing lacrosse program at the school is beginning to get attention from colleges, following the team's victory in the Benedictine tournament for the second year in a row in tough prep league competition.
The Fork Union Military Academy cadets making their college commitments known today included:
Christopher Moody, a senior in his second year at the Academy, the son of Timothy and Lori Moody of Fork Union, Virginia, will play football for Christopher Newport University.
Phillip Fitzpatrick, a senior in his third year at the Academy, the son of Jordan and Tracey Fitzpatrick of Manassas, Virginia, will play football for Christopher Newport University.
Christopher McCullough, a senior, the son of Alex and Dr. Brenda McCullough of Fort Belvoir, Virginia, will play basketball at Willamette University.
James Walker, a senior in his third year at the Academy, the son of Samuel and Dr. Emily Walker of Grandy, North Carolina, will play lacrosse for Chowan University.
Michael Donahoe, a senior in his second year at the Academy, the son of Kevin and Nancy Donahoe of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, will play lacrosse for Norwich University.
Spencer Tate, a senior in his second year at the Academy, the son of Randy and Julie Tate of Oak Hill, Virginia, will play lacrosse for Grand Canyon University.
Josh Brown, a postgraduate, the son of Shari Brown of Glen Allen, Virginia, will play basketball for Florida Southern College.
Lewis Freeman, a senior in his second year at the Academy and who has played this season on the postgraduate basketball team, the son of Barabara Pitt of Newport News, Virginia, will play basketball for Neosho County Community College.
Corey Douglas, a postgraduate, the son of Corey and Natasha Douglas of Louisville, Kentucky, will play basketball for Rice University.
In addition to the college signings, Michael Harper, a senior in his second year at the Academy, the son of Michael and Michelle Harper of Purlear, North Carolina, made his commitment to return to Fork Union Military Academy for a postgraduate year to play football for Coach John Shuman's varsity team.
