Mercy Center in Asbury Park hosts its Seventh Annual “Walk with Mercy” Awards Luncheon
Manasquan, NJ (PRWEB) May 08, 2016 -- Mercy Center in Asbury Park hosted its Seventh Annual “Walk with Mercy” Awards Luncheon on May 6th at the Manasquan River Golf Club. Tom Villane and the marketing team at Design 446 were the recipients of the 2016 Walk with Mercy Award for their leadership efforts and commitment to giving back to the community. The event was in benefit of Sisters Academy of New Jersey, a middle school program of Mercy Center that focuses on educating girls in grades five through eight.
Approximately 200 people were in attendance at the luncheon. “This springtime tradition is filled with inspirational moments and amazing musical performances by the students of Sisters Academy,” said Amy O’Neill, Director of Development for the Mercy Center in Asbury Park, NJ.
The event featured various guest speakers, including a Mercy Center student who presented the 2016 Walk with Mercy Award. “Mr. Villane… for many years, you have given of yourself and your talents to make Sisters Academy and Mercy Center special places for all who enter those doors,” the student said. “We thank you for your selflessness in helping to meet the needs of Mercy Center and Sisters Academy. The well-rounded education of excellence we receive at Sisters Academy let us strive to become the individuals we are destined to be.”
“It is an honor to accept this recognition and we are humbled by the opportunity to give back to the community that Design 446 embraces,” said Tom Villane, President of Design 446, a full-service marketing firm based in Manasquan, NJ.
Ann Marie Baker, Vice President of Design 446, added, “The Mercy Center and Sisters Academy holds a very special place in our hearts here at Design 446. We are privileged to support these organizations as they change the lives of so many young ladies by providing them with the opportunity for a brighter future.”
Established in 1997, the Sisters Academy is dedicated to educating girls in an academically stimulating and highly disciplined learning environment. “What really moved me about the story of Mercy Center was when I heard that Sisters Academy was started in part to help break the cycle of poverty in our community through education,” Villane continued. “To date, 100 percent of Sisters Academy students go on to graduate from high school and 87 percent further their education beyond high school. By establishing this school, these students will never walk alone.”
