Part of the magic of the song has personal meaning explains guitarist Jared Hara, "I wrote [this song] in honor of my late father, who always told me to believe in my dreams. I know he'd be so proud of this moment.”

This year Los Angeles-based band Symmetry was contacted by popular Band promoter Lexxi Paul who had suggested one of their songs for the indie film “Mothers and Daughters” starring an ensemble of film stars including Oscar winner Susan Sarandon and Golden Globe winner Sharon Stone. If they could find the right song, the band’s music would be featured in the indie heart-tugger which opens nationally today May 6, 2016.
At the time, Symmetry’s newest EP CURE was just released and their song “Down On Me” started building traction. Part of the magic of the song has personal meaning explains guitarist Jared Hara, "I wrote [this song] in honor of my late father, who always told me to believe in my dreams. I know he'd be so proud of this moment.”
The movie opens with a sincere and energetic feel. To capture this not only is Symmetry’s song used, but the guys are featured in the opening scene as well. They were invited on-set to production which was shot in Silverlake, CA and their Hollywood experience included meeting actress Selma Blair on set. "It's hard to believe that our song [...] is now in a major Hollywood movie. [...] This is a huge dream come true,” explains bassist Will Weiner.
Symmetry has toured the globe spreading their music and sharing their fun with audiences in dozens of countries. As the movie now premieres, the band is excited for the opportunity cheering on their global audience to go see the movie with their families and make it part of Mother’s Day weekend. "We've never done anything like it before and it was an amazing experience. Hopefully this is the first of many appearances on the silver screen for us!” encourages drummer Max D’Anda.
Symmetry is currently on a national tour with Knox Hamilton and Coasts. They return to Los Angeles for a special performance at the world-famous Troubabour on May 17, 2016.
