The Lymphoma Research Foundation to Host Inaugural Swirl: A Wine Tasting Event in Chicago
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 09, 2016 -- The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services – will bring its nationally recognized fundraising series, Swirl: A Wine Tasting Event to Chicago on Thursday, June 2, 2016. Held at the private residence of LRF Board Member Joseph Ferraro, the fundraiser will feature a sampling of world class wines generously donated by Southern Wine and Spirits of America, Inc., once again enabling all fundraising proceeds to directly support LRF’s mission.
Serafin Alvarado, Master Sommelier and Director of Wine Education at Southern Wine and Spirits of Illinois, will present and review a selection of wines, featuring some of the world’s most celebrated vintages from Italy.
"Over the last several years, the Swirl series has developed a national reputation as a premier philanthropic event in the Miami and Dallas metro areas, and now, Southern Wine and Spirits is thrilled to be able to sponsor a fantastic event right here in Chicago," said Alvarado.
Each year, more than 1,700 people in the state of Illinois alone alone are diagnosed with lymphoma – the most common form of blood cancer, and to date, the Foundation’s Swirl event series has raised over $175,000 in support of the Lymphoma Research Foundation and its mission to eradicate lymphoma and serve those touched by the disease. The inaugural Swirl Chicago event will be held on the eve of the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s (ASCO’s) Annual Meeting, held each year at McCormick Place in June.
“The Lymphoma Research Foundation is proud to have such a strong presence in Chicago and to bring our national Swirl event series to the area,” said Meghan Gutierrez, LRF Chief Executive Officer. “On behalf of the organization, we’d like to thank Joseph Ferraro for his support of the event and extend our gratitude to Southern Wine and Spirits of America, Inc. for their continued support of the Swirl series.”
