Former Fox Television executive joins Fresco News as Special Advisor to CEO John H. Meyer

Television news industry vet Ron Stitt has joined citizen journalism startup Fresco News as Special Advisor to CEO John H. Meyer. Stitt was a vital part of Fox Television for ten years, most recently serving as Group VP, Digital Media.

"The news industry has been talking UGC and citizen journalism for years, but somehow it's never fully-formed even though the raw technological hurdles were cleared several years ago,” said Stitt. “What's been missing is the vision and execution to make it happen. Fresco News is proving it now, and solving for real business opportunities and pain points. When evaluating tech companies, you don't just pick the technology, you pick the people. And that's why I'm very excited to roll up my sleeves and work with these guys.”

Ron Stitt is a known thought-leader in the local television industry in the United States. He is a strategic advisor to companies and startups in the media, digital media and advertising verticals. Previously, he was Group VP, Digital Media for the Fox Television Stations division of 21st Century Fox, where he managed the digital business encompassing strategy, business development, product development, content, revenue operations and platforms oversight. He also oversaw the launch and operation of the Disney/ABC Owned and Operated TV Stations websites prior to joining Fox. Before entering online media, Ron's earlier career roles were as Director of Marketing & Promotions for ABC National TV Sales and various research and marketing positions at Katz Communications and NBC. He holds an MS in Telecommunications Management from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University.
