Developing resiliency is the focus of a new leadership program offered by the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School June 8-10.

The Resilient Leadership Program will offer tools and techniques to overcome stress, avoid burnout and lead more effectively when dealing with increasing volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity in the workplace.

“If stress and anxiety are not addressed, they can lead to burn out,” says Kip Kelly, UNC Executive Development director of public programs. “We have designed this leadership program to provide practical tools and frameworks that business professionals can use to build resilience and agility and, ultimately, be more effective and thrive.”

Participants also will:

  • Develop an effective strategy to create a better, more integrated work-life balance
  • Practice new, sustainable techniques to manage stress and avoid burnout
  • Learn to identify and overcome common challenges that contribute to misunderstanding, conflict and stress
  • Understand the importance of emotional intelligence while strengthening emotional acumen
  • Understand the dynamics that drive change in an organization

“This is an important topic for organizations to address in order to help their leaders and the bottom line,” says Michael Christian, an organizational behavior professor who will teach in the program. “My own research suggests that stress and fatigue can lead to bad decisions and unethical behavior.”

Among the other faculty teaching are Shimul Melwani and Matthew Pearsall, also organizational behavior professors at UNC Kenan-Flagler.

The program will be offered at UNC Kenan-Flagler’s Paul J. Rizzo Conference Center. Learn more here.
