Jani Hegarty, president of Health and Wellness Partners, was honored today as a “Luminary” at the annual Woman of the Year event of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA).
To be recognized as a Luminary by the HBA, a woman must have more than 20 years of relevant professional experience, actively mentor others, exhibit dedication to the healthcare industry, and be “a shining example of transformational leadership,” among other criteria. Hegarty has worked in the pharmaceutical industry since 1985, and founded Health and Wellness Partners in 2005.
“I’m grateful that my partners honored me,” noted Hegarty. “I’ve been committed to changing the lives of patients through medical education throughout my career, and I hope to be able to continue to make a difference.” Hegarty described a current focus on improving complex care for patients with rare diseases, who “deserve a holistic approach to their care.” She added, “People with rare diseases are not rare people—so there remains a huge opportunity for professional education, as medicines advance care and increase life expectancy.”
