Virginia Commonwealth University and Evolution Labs to Debut Mobile App- and Web-Based Student-Athlete Success Program
(PRWEB) May 13, 2016 -- Evolution Labs announced today that Virginia Commonwealth University will debut the company’s SA360 platform to all incoming student-athletes and upperclassmen. SA360 is a holistic program to help improve student-athletes’ chances of personal, academic and athletic success. With curated, engaging content in areas such as health and wellness, academic and study skills, leadership and career development, the program will help students both on and off the field while enabling coaches and staff to track key learning outcomes.
“SA360 fits perfectly into our VCU Athletics core value of student-athlete focus as we equip student-athletes with the skills, structure, knowledge and integrity to help them succeed at VCU and after graduation,” said Ed McLaughlin, Associate Vice President & Director of Athletics at VCU. “We wanted to create a platform that can help us educate our student-athletes while fitting into their rigorous schedules. The SA360 platform provides an invaluable tool and resource to assist student-athletes in meeting the many demands of their daily lives, even when they’re on the go and connected with only their mobile devices.”
SA360 covers important success topics, including mental health, fitness and nutrition, study and test-taking skills, drug and alcohol use, sexual assault, NCAA compliance and career preparedness. It employs pulse surveys, social media, interactive self-tests and digital video to keep students returning for weekly updates. The university plans to pilot the program this spring and roll it out to all student-athletes ahead of the 2016-17 academic year.
“VCU recognizes the importance of teaching student-athletes key life-skills in a highly engaging manner,” said Peter Kraft, Co-founder at Evolution Labs. “SA360 meets students where the students are - online and on their mobile devices - allowing them to connect and engage with content when and where it suits them, and ensuring that students are absorbing the material and reaching desired learning outcomes.”
