SAE International Named to List of Organizations Invited to Attend International Civil Aviation Organization Meetings
WARRENDALE, Pa. (PRWEB) May 12, 2016 -- SAE International announces that it has been named to the list of international organizations invited to attend International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) meetings.
As a United Nations specialized agency, ICAO was established in 1944 to manage the administration and governance of the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention). ICAO works with the Convention’s 191 Member States and industry groups to reach consensus on international civil aviation Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and policies in support of a safe, efficient, secure, economically sustainable and environmentally responsible civil aviation sector.
SAE International is the leading global developer of aerospace standards. SAE International’s Aerospace Standards repository includes nearly 8,500 documents. Its 150 committees are comprised of 10,000 experts from 56 countries representing industry (airframers, suppliers, operators, MROs), regulatory authorities, military agencies, researchers, and consultants. Document development serves the full spectrum of aerospace businesses meeting the engineering, advanced technology, safety, and regulatory needs of a world market.
“The recognition of SAE International as an ICAO international organization is a tremendous honor. We look forward to continued collaborations with ICAO to address areas of mutual concern to the global aviation sector,” David L. Schutt, PhD, Chief Executive Officer of SAE International, said.
SAE International joins 45 other non-governmental organizations on the list. The designation enables SAE International to attend suitable ICAO meetings as an observer.
