Z-Medica Receives Presidential Award for Export Successes
Wallingford, CT (PRWEB) May 16, 2016 -- Z-Medica®, LLC, a leading developer and marketer of hemostatic devices, announces today they received the President’s “E” Award for Exports during a ceremony in Washington, DC. The award is the highest recognition any U.S. company can receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports and is presented by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker.
“Z-Medica is among only124 companies this year to receive the President’s ‘E’ Award for our work to reduce barriers to foreign markets and to open the door to more trade around the world,” said Z-Medica’s President and CEO Stephen J. Fanning. “The export award covers all the products Z-Medica produces, particularly our QuikClot gauze products. We believe we make an enormous impact on saving lives not only here in the United States, but elsewhere in the world.”
In 2012, exports made up 10 percent of Z-Medica’s overall sales. But by 2015, that number had doubled to 20 percent of overall sales.
“Z-Medica has demonstrated a sustained commitment to export expansion. The ‘E’ Awards Committee was very impressed with Z-Medica’s innovative medical technologies and the Company’s ability to provide additional training for the use of its products to clients,” said Secretary Pritzker. “Z-Medica’s achievements have undoubtedly contributed to national export expansion efforts that support the U.S. economy and create American jobs.”
In 2015, U.S. exports reportedly totaled $2.23 trillion, accounting for nearly 13 percent of U.S. gross domestic product (GDP). Nationally, exports contributed to the U.S. economy, supporting an estimated 11.5 million jobs.
About the President’s “E” Award for Exports
In 1961, President Kennedy signed an executive order reviving the World War II “E” symbol of excellence to honor and provide recognition to America's exporters. U.S. companies are nominated for the “E” Awards through the Department of Commerce’s U.S. Commercial Service office network, located within the Department’s International Trade Administration, with offices in 108 U.S. cities and more than 70 countries. Record years of successive export growth and an applicant’s demonstration of an innovative international marketing plan that led to the increase in exports is a significant factor in selecting the winners.
