Tokio Marine HCC - MIS Group already Preparing for Weather at 2016 U.S. Open
INDIANAPOLIS (PRWEB) May 19, 2016 -- Tokio Marine Houston Casualty Company – Medical Insurance Services Group (Tokio Marine HCC – MIS Group), a provider of global travel medical insurance, anticipates today, nearly a month before the United States Golf Association’s U.S. Open, the risk of rain on June 16, (opening day) is 36 percent, based on historical occurrences. Tokio Marine HCC - MIS Group partnered with Weather Analytics to develop Atlas Travelcast™, a planning tool featuring a “Misery Index” for a wide selection of golf courses located around the world. Expected weather conditions are based on a proprietary process of analyzing patterns in long-term historical weather data.
This year’s USGA U.S. Open will be held at Oakmont Country Club, and while the probability of rainfall based on past years is significant, the rainfall is typically light, with an average of 0.10 inches accumulating between 7a.m.-7p.m. Our analysis doesn’t stop at the rainfall, however. Golfers and spectators can also expect a light breeze and a daytime temperature ranging from 62-77 degrees Fahrenheit. Expected low humidity also indicates that our perception of how warm the air feels, the apparent temperature, will be consistent with the true temperature. Furthermore, Oakmont Country Club scores an overall seven on the index out of ten, making June 16 a great day for golf.
Through expert data collection, standardization and integration, Weather Analytics has compiled 37+ years of historical data spanning all continents and ocean basins to create the world’s first gap-free, global, and web-enabled weather database. Due to the foundation of these data and expertise in complex weather modeling, Weather Analytics is able to provide weather alerting, verification, and solutions designed to help in your travel decisions.
Atlas Travelcast allows the user to enter the course and dates they want to play golf. Atlas Travelcast will then present a “Misery Index” score based on typical weather conditions for that day. The scores range between “miserable” and “optimal,” and include likely temperatures, wind gusts and typical precipitation amounts. Atlas Travelcast provides alternative dates and courses with higher scores, and also shows the best months of the year for that particular course.
Atlas Travelcast is paired with an Atlas Golf insurance policy from Tokio Marine HCC - MIS Group. Atlas Golf policies provide coverage for loss of, or damage to, golf equipment, as well as an equipment rental benefit—which includes three levels of coverage. Standard Atlas Travel medical insurance coverage is also included in the Atlas Golf line. Benefits include emergency medical evacuation, accidental death and dismemberment, emergency assistance, and up to two million in coverage.
