Villa Healthcare, a leading provider of post-hospital care, has completed the build out on a 4,740 square foot, state-of-the-art therapy gym at The Villa at South Holland. The ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration took place on Thursday, May 5 at 5:30 p.m.
Local community officials, business leaders and physician specialists including: Mayor Don Degraff, Police Chief, G. Baker, Village of South Holland Trustee, Vickie Perkins, Medical Director at South Holland, Dr. Perish, Dr. Srinivasu Kusuma (Bone and Joint Physicians), Drs. Hekimogulu, Kitapci, Samson, and Vik Pancholi Manager of Inpatient rehab at Ingalls Hospital attended the groundbreaking. The new therapy space features the latest equipment to maximize therapy efficiency and safety, including a ceiling-mounted track system to further support patient stability, allow greater treatment customization, and better simulate home environments to ensure patient confidence in returning to normal daily activities.
Villa Healthcare COO, David Mills, was quoted as saying “We are extremely excited to be celebrating today’s grand opening of The Villa at South Holland's therapy addition. It is another fine example of our commitment to not only meet, but exceed the health care needs of those in need of rehabilitation services in the South Holland community. I would like to personally thank all those involved in this special project."
The Villa at South Holland has had more than 350 successful discharges to home over the last year, and the average stay for short-term guests recovering from a knee or hip surgery is just 12-14 days. Villa Healthcare credits their guests’ success – significantly above national and state averages – to a unique approach to transitional care. Guests receive premier specialty care led by board-certified physicians and licensed physical, occupational and speech therapists from nearby Ingalls Hospital in an environment inspired by luxury hotels. The new therapy gym is a continuation of significant first-floor renovations already completed to provide “Suite Recovery” services at South Holland.
In conjunction with the opening of the new therapy gym, The Villa at South Holland is also announcing the onboarding of their new Orthopedic Program Director, Dr. Srinivasu Kusuma. As a physician who is also interested in a variety of sports—from college football to snow skiing to tennis—Dr. Srinivasu Kusuma knows the importance of quickly and thoroughly healing from orthopedic injuries.
Whether an injury or illness requires surgery of the spine, knees or other area, Dr. Kusuma is dedicated to applying his surgical skill and fresh knowledge to help patients regain their full functionality. He holds memberships in the North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Michigan Orthopedic Society and other organizations that keep him abreast of best practices and breakthrough care.
From short-term rehabilitation to long-term care, Villa Healthcare has near-perfect patient satisfaction scores, five-star care ratings and hospital readmission rates far lower than state and national averages. Villa Healthcare has taken its Exceptional Care, Unexpected Luxury and Passionate Service standards to locations throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan.
