We want to foster a collaborative environment between teachers, parents, and students. PowerSchool encourages parents to be actively involved in their child’s educational success.

PowerSchool replaces New York’s Alden Central School District’s student information system with a solution to help school officials get back to standards-based grading. The new solution improves accessibility to student data, collaboration with parents, and staff efficiency. PowerSchool’s launch of its gradebook, PowerTeacher Pro, will provide Alden Central with a comprehensive view of a student’s performance, enabling educators to focus on instruction.

“We want to foster a collaborative environment between teachers, parents, and students. Managing engagement on student performance is easy with PowerSchool. Parents can download the mobile app to communicate with teachers and evaluate their child’s academic progress,” said Frank Rizzo, Director of Information Technology at Alden Central School District. “PowerSchool encourages parents to be actively involved in their child’s educational success.”

The robust functionality within PowerSchool provides school administrators, parents, and students with instant visibility to assignments, scores, grades, comments, and progress toward each standard. PowerSchool provides district families the ability to monitor student proficiency on standards and receive immediate alerts specific to their child through innovative tools.

“Customization was a key factor in our district’s decision to switch to PowerSchool. Our teachers and school personnel need to use a system that offers flexibility,” notes Rizzo. “PowerSchool gives us the ability to add custom fields and screens so that our solution is functional for us. As a previous PowerSchool user, it is not a matter of ‘if’ we can change something, but ‘when’.”

PowerSchool’s partner program enables seamless integration with many education technology databases. “One of the things we try to get kids to do is play well with others. PowerSchool excels in this area and saves us work because it connects with the systems we use in our schools. There is so much you do with PowerSchool and we are excited to implement this solution at Alden Central School District,” adds Rizzo.
