There were some bad days but I pushed through, and it was totally worth it. I finally realized that the way I train is going to be the way I compete. I can’t thank the coaches and HOH family enough for supporting me.

Head Over Heels Athletic Arts is thrilled to announce Frida Esparza as our first Junior International Elite gymnast. Last Wednesday, Esparza earned Junior International Elite status with a 55.25 all-around score, the highest total of a qualifier.

“It feels amazing to qualify,” Esparza said. “There were some bad days but I pushed through, and it was totally worth it. I finally realized that the way I train is going to be the way I compete. I can’t thank the coaches and HOH family enough for supporting me.”

As a Level 10 gymnast in 2015, Esparza won the bars title at the Junior Olympic National Championships and finished 16th overall in her respective age group. At the NorCal State Championships, Esparza was crowned all-around and beam champion. Esparza also verbally committed to UCLA, planning to compete for the Bruins in 2019.

Up next, Esparza will compete in the U.S. Secret Classic in Hartford, CT on June 4. As the final qualifying event for the U.S. P&G Championships, the U.S. Classic is known for being highly competitive, featuring some of the country’s top gymnasts. Recent events have included three-time World Champion Simone Biles and all members of the “Fierce Five” 2012 Olympic Team Champions.

“As an elite gymnast, I’m looking forward to traveling, meeting new people and having new experiences,” Esparza said. “At the U.S. Classic, I just want to have fun and perform my routines like I do in practice.”
