Healthcare is a unique industry that needs a unique kind of innovation.

Today Health:Further announced the additions of Joshua Newman, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, GM, Salesforce Healthcare and Life Sciences, and Dennis Boyle, partner and founding member, IDEO, to the keynote speaker lineup for its 2016 Summit, taking place at the Music City Center in Nashville on August 23-24. In its second year, the healthcare innovation conference, which focuses on building relationships between all of healthcare’s stakeholders, will grow on its inaugural event with more attendees and two days of content produced by healthcare innovation fund Jumpstart Foundry.

In an uncertain healthcare atmosphere, Health:Further takes a different approach to healthcare innovation. The Nashville-based conference series seeks to bring established players to the same table as innovators and investors to foster the conversations that are moving healthcare forward.

“Healthcare is a unique industry that needs a unique kind of innovation. Entrepreneurs and innovators often lack the nuanced knowledge of the industry and the regulations around it, while established players are often limited in their capacity to innovate aggressively,” said Andre Blackman, producer of Health:Further. “We work hard to foster connections and relationships between these groups through compelling conference experiences.”

Dr. Newman’s addition builds on one of the major themes for this year’s upcoming conference: how technology can be used to address industry pain points and deliver valuable insights about care to the right person at the right time. With experience in both healthcare delivery and software development, Dr. Newman leads strategy and cross-functional efforts for Salesforce’s healthcare products, including Salesforce Health Cloud. Dr. Newman will focus his talk on the impact of useful data insights on building an agile, responsive healthcare system and how the cloud helps providers build stronger patient relationships and move beyond digital records.

In keeping with Health:Further’s goal of attracting and highlighting various viewpoints on the changing landscape, Dennis Boyle - one of the founding members of globally recognized design firm IDEO - will bring his insights on design-thinking in healthcare innovation. As the one of the senior leaders in the Design for Health business domain at IDEO, Dennis will discuss how human centered design creates meaningful exchanges across healthcare to develop innovative products, services and strategies that promote healthful living and behavior change. Dennis will aim to give the audience a baseline understanding of how creative, empathic problem-solving will be vital the success of healthcare’s future.

Finally, Tamara StClaire, chief innovation officer, Xerox Healthcare Business Group will also take the Health:Further stage. StClaire is responsible for creating innovative opportunities through partnerships, acquisitions and incubation at Xerox, a company with a rich history of technology innovation dating back more than 70 years. At Health:Further, StClaire will focus on “Anywhere Care”, exploring the need to equip healthcare with the ability to be more mobile with patients, and discuss a future where improved frameworks for telehealth and telemedicine eliminate technological barriers to access.

In its first year, Health:Further attracted more than 600 attendees for a sold out crowd at the OMNI Nashville Hotel. The program featured C-level speakers from major healthcare companies like HCA and Saint Thomas Health as well as pitches from some of the most innovative emerging healthcare companies. The 2016 Health:Further Summit will build on this success to fill the Music City Center with more than 1200 attendees targeting healthcare industry executives, entrepreneurs, investors, and Fortune 500 companies. In addition to exceptional programming, Health:Further 2016 will feature new experiences, including investor matchmaking and mentor hours.
