That’s right: PhotoSesh makes it just as easy to find a photographer on-demand as it is to get a ride with Uber, except users can choose a photographer from a list populated with simple criteria like date, time, and category… so think AirBnB. PhotoSesh, which launched earlier this month at TechCrunch Disrupt NY, hopes to shake things up by creating the new standard for hiring a photographer.

The PhotoSesh App helps find locally sourced, highly-rated photographers who are nearby and ready to start capturing keepsake moments. With photographers typically charging hundreds of dollars for a session, why is PhotoSesh so affordable? The truth is: even the most in-demand photographers have free spots in their schedules that they want to fill.

With PhotoSesh, professional photographers get the opportunity to offer their openings at a discount instead of letting those slots go unfilled. Users get available photographers listed by distance and ratings; once a photographer is selected, users can then track their photographers on the PhotoSesh map to ensure they make it to their destination (which comes in handy in crowded locations). PhotoSesh takes it one giant step further by also offering “iPhoneography” aka: affordable iPhone photographers ready at - literally - a moment’s notice through a peer-to-peer feature called PhotoSesh LIGHT. If ever at a crowded festival, tourist area, or a graduation ceremony, a 30 minute PhotoSesh LIGHT for $10 can be useful in-lieu of asking strangers to take a mediocre pic on the spot.

The booking process is free and mobile-friendly: PhotoSesh is currently available on iOS as two separate apps (customers and photographers). It’s a one-stop-shop experience: users can check out photographers’ portfolios, ratings, view up-front pricing info, and pay - all right within the app. The service includes delivery of digital images and usage rights.
